Charcoal data and reflectance measurements inferred from Holzmaar (Germany)

Description

The dataset comprises macrocharcoal data (>100 μm) derived from a varved sediment record from Holzmaar, located in the West Eifel Volcanic Field, Germany. The macrocharcoal record was utilized to reconstruct fire occurrence over the past 2,000 years. In addition to this reconstruction, reflectance measurements of charcoal particles were conducted to estimate the temperature of charcoal formation, thereby providing insights into the prevailing fire regimes during specific time periods.
