Cyanobacterial occurence in the Kociewskie lakes (2004)

Description

This dataset includes information about the cyanobacterial occurrence in 3 lakes in the region Kociewie (northern Poland), in 2004. Presented data concern basic physicochemical and biological parameters of sampled waters (temperature, pH, Chl a), the occurence of potentially toxic cyanobacterial species, and the type and concentration of toxins (microcystin) detected in the collected water samples. The obtained results sho that in Kociewskie lakes cyanobacterial blooms are most formed by species belonging to Microcystis and Dolichospermum genera. In each lake microcystin-RR and -Lr were found. The highest concentrations of microcystin-RR were recorded in Kałębie Lake. Additionally, there is no clear correlation between the abundance of potentially toxic or toxic cyanobacteria and the concentration of toxins in phytoplankton samples.
