Description

This is the histopathological image of HEART, MEDIASTINUM, AND PLEURA tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: Pannoramic 250 3DHistech slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

Clinical description: Male neonate. 8 days. TGA, VSD. After cardiosurgery.

Diagnosis: Discordant ventriculoarterial connection

Result of the histopathological examination: Fibrin deposits and single foci of cardiomyocyte necrosis are visible in the anterior wall of the heart (left ventricle). In addition, there are exponents of hyperemia of the subepicardial zone with small foci of hemorrhages.
