Description
This is the histopathological image of BRONCHUS AND LUNG tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: Pannoramic 250 3DHistech slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

Clinical description: Transposition of the great arteries (TGA). After cardiac surgery. Survived 6 days.

Diagnosis: Discordant ventriculoarterial connection
Result of the histopathological examination: In lung samples, features of atelectasis, chronic and acute hyperemia, interstitial and alveolar effusions, as well as thrombi in individual vessels. Additionally areas of subpleural hemorrhages. Focally formation of hyaline membranes and a focal inflammatory reaction are visible.
