Description

This is the histopathological image of BRONCHUS AND LUNG tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: Pannoramic 250 3DHistech slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

The detailed information about the patient, sample, and diagnosis are as follows:

Patient:

Age: 0

Clinical description: Extreme prematurity (1080g). Lung atelectasis. Subpleural haemorrhages. The condition after the closure of the patent Botalla's duct (PDA). Condition after pneumothorax decompression. Patent interatrial foramen (PFO). Lived 15 days.

Diagnosis: Extreme immaturity

Result of the histopathological examination: Lung specimens show areas of secondary atelectasis, excessive aeration, signs of hyperemia and subpleural hemorrhages. In places, the pneumothorax also affects the interlobular spaces of the lungs. Focal, there are few hyaline membranes and an inflammatory reaction.
