Description

This is the histopathological image of SMALL INTESTINE tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: Pannoramic 250 3DHistech slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

Clinical description: Gastrointestinal haemorrhage. MRI- tumor of ileum (54 x 23 x 30 mm). Suspicion of GIST.

Classification: ICD-O_3.2

Classification code: COMPLEX MIXED AND STROMAL NEOPLASMS

Diagnosis: Gastrointestinal stromal tumor

Result of the histopathological examination: GIST: tumor composed of spindled cells. Mitotix index: 25 mitoses per 50 HPF. Risk of Disease Progression- high (85% )(Category 6a). GIST cells: CD117+, DOG1+, SMA+, CD34 focally+, Ki-67 30%.
