Kinetics of hexane and cyclohexane biodegradation using Candida subhashii in mineral salt medium in the presence of DES solution

Description

Dataset presents results of investigations on kinetics of biodegradation of hexane and cyclohexane in Candida subhashii.

Investigations were carried out in gas-tight glass bottles with a port for gas sampling. Mineral salt medium (MSM) was used either solely or in mixture with DES1 (choline chloride : ethylene glycole 1:2 w/w) or DES2 (L-carnitine : C-8 acid 1:3 w/w). Polyurethane foam discs (PPI10) were inoculated with Candida subhashii for one week using Sabouraud liquid medium. Then, the liquid medium was changed to mineral salt medium and selected DES solution was added (5 % v/v of DES additive in MSM).

Changes of hexane and cyclohexane concentrations were investigated using Head Space technique. Concentrations of tested volatile organic compounds were determined using Varian CP-3800 gas chromatograph equipped with a flame ionization detector.
