Description
This is the histopathological image of BRONCHUS AND LUNG tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: Pannoramic 250 3DHistech slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

Clinical description: Hospital death, a 55-year-old patient with a diagnosed tumor within the skull and respiratory failure. Suspicion of tuberculosis.

Diagnosis: Lobar pneumonia, unspecified
Result of the histopathological examination: The lung samples exhibit fibrin-purulent and focal purulent-necrotic pneumonia and pleurisy with features of concomitant aspiration. Macrophages and hemosiderophages are present in the interalveolar septa. Part of them are thickened with increased fibrosis. Individual blood vessels contain blood clots in their lumen.
