Description
This is the histopathological image of PROSTATE GLAND tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: Pannoramic 250 3DHistech slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

Clinical description: Prostate carcinoma

Classification code: Chapter II - Neoplasms
Diagnosis: Malignant neoplasm of prostate
Result of the histopathological examination: Invasive carcinoma with high grade prostate intraepithelial neoplasia (HG-PIN) areas in both lobes. Remaining gland with markers of benign nodular hyperplasia and atrophy of the glands. Samples from the right lobe show a area of carcinoma which constitutes a total of <5% of the gland's volume, reaching the cut line from the urethral side at 2 mm (Gleason 3 + 4). The Gleason 4 component accounts for 20% of the tumor. Perineural invasion can be focally spotted. There was no emboli within the vessels or spread beyond the pseudocapsule of the gland.
