Description
This is the histopathological image of COLON tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: Pannoramic 250 3DHistech slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

Age: 55
Clinical description: Incidentally found appendiceal tumor compressing the ureter. Tumor markers were normal. Intraoperatively, tumor of the retroperitoneal space with infiltration of the right ureter.

Diagnosis:Classification: ICD-O_3.2
Classification code: NEOPLASMS, NOS
Diagnosis: Malignant tumor, fusiform cell type
Result of the histopathological examination: Numerous sections show an infiltrate of malignant neoplasm with predominantly spindle and pleomorphic cells. Extensive areas of necrosis and areas of fibrosis are present within the tumor. IHC: SMA(+), CD99(+), vimentin(+), Beta-Catenin, Caldesmon, CD117, CD31, CD34, CD68(KP1), CD68(PG-M1), Desmin, HMB-45, MelanA, S100, negative. A microscopic image supports the diagnosis of sarcoma. The neoplasm is infiltrating the retroperitoneal fat and the ureter. There is no infiltration of the large intestine wall, small intestine, or appendix.
