Description

This is the histopathological image of ESOPHAGUS tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: Pannoramic 250 3DHistech slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

Clinical description: Retrosternal pain. CT:10 mm tumor in oesophagus. Biopsy: poorly differentiated oesophageal carcinoma.

Result of the histopathological examination: Neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC) G3. Mitotic index: >50 mitoses per 10 HPF, ki-67 95 %. Carcinoma cells: SYN+, CHR+, p63-, CK5/6- (positive reaction in epithelium).
