Description

This is the histopathological image of THYROID GLAND tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: Pannoramic 250 3DHistech slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

The detailed information about the patient, sample, and diagnosis are as follows:

Age: 66

Clinical description: History of excision of left thyroid lobe. Enlarged right lobe of thyroid. Numerous nodules in right thyroid lobe on ultrasound. FNAC- Bethesda II.

Classification code: Chapter IV - Endocrine, nutritional and metabolic diseases

Diagnosis: Nontoxic multinodular goitre

Result of the histopathological examination: Multinodular goiter- variable sized dilated follicles lined by flattened epithelium and containing colloid, fibrosis, focal hemorrhage, degenerative changes. Some nodules show huge follicles containing large amounts of colloid.
