Description

This is the histopathological image of BRAIN tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: Pannoramic 250 3DHistech slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

Clinical description: Prematurity. Fallot's tetralogy. Bronchopneumonia. Cyanosis.

Result of the histopathological examination: Brain with congestive edema, severe heperaemia, also within the meninges. Diffuse spots of white matter softening and areas of gliosis. There is a small capillary malformation in the temporal lobe. Swollen vascular plexus. In some sections of the cerebral cortex the disorganization of the structure and layering is present. Early ischemic changes in diffuse neurons are also found in the CNS.
