Description
This is the histopathological image of THYROID GLAND tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: Pannoramic 250 3DHistech slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

Age: 59
Clinical description: Right thyroid lobe measuring 4.5x4x5cm. Beige-grey nodule measuring 3.5x3x3.5cm is present on the cross-section. The nodule is located subcapsularly (thyroid capsule smooth, intact).

Classification code: ADENOMAS AND ADENOCARCINOMAS
Diagnosis: Papillary and follicular carcinoma
Result of the histopathological examination: Minimally invasive follicular carcinoma. Tumor of the largest dimension of 3.5 cm. A single follicular lesion with the largest dimension of 0.4 cm is found 0.7 cm from its capsule, which should be considered a satellite nodule. No angio- or neuroinvasion is found. The lesion was removed completely.
