XPS measurements of the iron elements covered by chromium

Description

Anticorrosive coatings are an important issue in modern materials engineering. One of the most commonly used, for that coating materials, is chrome. Three metal elements were measured, named as Turcja, WB Tech and Nomet. Names were given according to producer of elements. XPS measurements of the Cr 2p region give an ansver concering on surface chemical composition. Coatings consist on mostly Cr3+ and metallic Cr. No maxima were observed for chromium on the sixth step of oxidation. Chromium in the +VI oxidation state is carcinogenic. Obtained results confirmed, that chromium coatings are safe for humans.
