Surface functionalization of β-type titanium alloy by developing a hybrid, smart coating for biomedical applications
The project focuses on the fabrication of composite, pH-sensitive hybrid coatings produced by microarc oxidation and electrophoretic deposition of chitosan, hydroxyapatite and zinc nanoparticle coatings on titanium alloy for biomedical applications, and evaluating the effects of varying manufacturing parameters on the properties of coatings, including: physical, chemical, mechanical and biological properties (cytotoxicity and antibacterial properties). The research will have a significant impact on the development of knowledge in materials and mechanical engineering. The results of the project will be scientific publications in reputable journals, which will increase the scientific achievements of the project manager and have a positive impact on the achievements of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology the Gdansk University of Technology.
