Laser remelting of the nanohydroxyapatite coating on the Ti13Nb13Zr titanium alloy in terms of tribological properties of the obtained surface layer

The planned activity provides data that will enable the submission of an application for a NCN research project in 2027.The rationale for the application is primarily the innovative nature of the research.Although titanium and its alloys intended for endoprostheses were the subject of a huge number of modifications, there was almost never any attempt to change the material system of titanium - HAp coating to a titanium surface layer with a gradient of calcium and phosphorus concentrations. The proposed pilot studies are by all means justified by the lack of any data on the impact of laser treatment on the structure of the surface layer with a previous nanoHAp coating. The project will consist of two main research tasks. In the first one, the relationship between the two parameters of the electrophoretic deposition process, deposition voltage and time, and the thickness of the coatings, will be determined. On this basis, the values of both parameters will be initially determined, for which the coating thickness differs significantly, while maintaining the appropriate quality. In the second stage, for different laser parameters, melting of the coatings will be performed, followed by the previously described characteristics of the structure and properties. The results expected to be obtained will allow, first of all, to clearly state whether it is correct to assume that subjecting the HAp coating to a laser will lead to the formation of a gradient surface layer. The planned research will allow to propose an experimental plan for a future research project, including the characteristics of the processes taking place during the laser processing of the coating, initial determination of the coating thickness and the laser power range as independent variables in future research, and finally the material, mechanical, physical and chemical properties being the subject of the research, selecting the correct number of ingredients and the range of their concentrations in the bath, thanks to the significance of their influence on the properties of coatings, the characteristics of the processes taking place during laser remelting, but also during the stress and corrosive environment. The author of the proposal predicts that the future research project .The results of the project will contribute to the enrichment of the manager's scientific achievements.
