Numerical Analysis of Turbulent Flow over a Backward-facing Step in an Open Channel
PublicationComputational examinations of the flow field in an open channel having a single Backward--Facing Step (BFS) with a constant water depth of 1.5 m were performed. The effects of the expansion ratio, and the flow velocity along the reattachment length, were investigated by employing two different expansion ratios of 1.5 and 2, and eight various flow velocities of 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7.5 and 10 m/sec in the Computational Fluid Dynamic...

Inverse Flood Routing Using Simplified Flow Equations
PublicationThe paper considers the problem of inverse flood routing in reservoir operation strategy. The aim of the work is to investigate the possibility of determining the hydrograph at the upstream end based on the hydrograph required at the downstream end using simplified open channel flow models. To accomplish this, the linear kinematic wave equation, the diffusive wave equation and the linear Muskingum equation are considered. To achieve...

Top k Recommendations using Contextual Conditional Preferences Model
PublicationRecommender systems are software tools and techniques which aim at suggesting to users items they might be interested in. Context-aware recommender systems are a particular category of recommender systems which exploit contextual information to provide more adequate recommendations. However, recommendation engines still suffer from the cold-start problem, namely where not enough information about users and their ratings is available....

0-step K-means for clustering Wikipedia search results
PublicationThis article describes an improvement for K-means algorithm and its application in the form of a system that clusters search results retrieved from Wikipedia. The proposed algorithm eliminates K-means isadvantages and allows one to create a cluster hierarchy. The main contributions of this paper include the ollowing: (1) The concept of an improved K-means algorithm and its application for hierarchical clustering....

Reduced model of gyroscopic system
PublicationThe paper presents the method of model reduction for the system with gyroscopic interactions. Two methods were used to obtain the approximate discrete models of the continuous structure: the modal decomposition method and the rigid finite element method. The first approach is used for this part of a system for which it is easy to formulate orthogonality conditions, meanwhile the second one is used for other part. The method enables...

(Vapour + liquid) equilibrium in (n,n-dimethylacetamide + ethanol + water) at the temperature 313.15 K
Znaleziono w przybliżeniu liniową zależność pomiędzy wartościami nadmiarowej entalpii swobodnej Gibbsa a objętością molową amidu, spełnianą w układach dwuskładnikowych: amid + alkohol alifatyczny.

k-Penalty: A Novel Approach to Find k-Disjoint Paths with Differentiated Path Costs
