A facile method for Tauc exponent and corresponding electronic transitions determination in semiconductors directly from UV–Vis spectroscopy data
PublicationIn this work, a facile method allowing for estimation of the exponent in the Tauc equation directly from the UV–vis spectra is presented. It is based on the Taylor expansion of the logarithmic version of the Tauc equation. The Tauc exponent is calculated from the tangent slope of the absorption data. Knowledge of this coefficient provides information about the optical transition types and is used as an input for the calculations...

Linking optical and electronic properties to photoresponse of heterojunctions based on titania nanotubes and chromium, molybdenum, and tungsten oxides
PublicationThe development of photosensitization strategies for titanium dioxide is necessary for the enhancement of its optical and electronic properties towards its application potential in solar photoelectrochemistry. In this work, significant differences in the photosensitizing capability of the 6th group transition metal oxides applied on the surface of titania nanotubes are reported. For the first time, correlations between the experimentally...

New plasmonic platform for enhanced luminescence of Valrubicin
PublicationLuminescence enhanced by new structure of plasmonic platform with aluminum oxide (Al2O3) buffer layer deposited on gold nanostructures is investigated. Regularly distributed gold nanostructures of average dimension of 50 nm formed the active part of plasmonic platforms. They were manufactured on Corning 1737 glass substrate by melting of gold thin film. The nanostructures were coated by dielectric Al2O3 thin film with thickness...

Structural and luminescent study of TeO2-BaO-Bi2O3-Ag glass system doped with Eu3+ and Dy3+ for possible color-tunable phosphor application
PublicationTellurite glass systems of 73TeO2-4BaO-3Bi2O3-1Ag:xEu2O3-(2-x)Dy2O3 (where x = 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2 in molar ratio) composition have been successfully synthesized. In order to acquire Ag nanoparticles, materials have been heat treated at 350 °C in the air atmosphere. Structural properties of obtained samples were evaluated with various techniques. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) measurements indicated that obtained materials are amorphous in...

Excitation energy transfer in partly ordered polymer films differing in donor and acceptor transition moments orientation
PublicationBased on spectroscopic measurements selected properties of nonradiative Förster energy transport are studied in uniaxially stretched polyvinyl alcohol thin films for three systems differing in donor and acceptor transition moments orientation relative to the axis of stretching. In particular, donor – acceptor emission anisotropy spectra yield completely different regularities for these systems in uniaxially stretched films, whereas...
