Electronic and magnetic structure studies of rare earth carbide intermatallics

The aim of the project is to develop a microscopic description of the mechanisms linking the charge and magnetic ordering with the crystal and electronic band structure in rare-earth intermetallic carbides. For this purpose, a cooperation will be established with a group of scientists from Vienna University of Technology. Research work will focus on experiments using beams of radiation or particles, supported by the studies of thermoelectric and transport properties. The complementary research experience of the members of both research groups will allow not only to use the wide range of available research methods in the current project, but also to extend the collaboration in the future.
