Biotechnological and pharmacological potential of bee products microbiota.

The main goal of the project is isolation from bee products bacterial strains that exhibit ability to production of antimicrobial compounds, biopolymers and enzymes of particular industrial importance. Important parts of the project will be optimizing growth conditions of producing strains and development of methods of purification of metabolites of interest. Whole genome sequencing will be performed for identification of genes that are responsible for production of these substances. In cooperation with the research group from University of Wrocław attempts will be made to identify the metabolites that exhibit antimicrobial activity and to determine their chemical structures.
