Europe 4.0 Digital Citizens

Europe is currently undergoing a deep digital transformation, which is being driven by advances in connectivity, the promise and potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robots. The future requires flexibility of thought, adaptability and foresight. In the world of tomorrow, if we want to be masters of our own destiny and confident in our means, values and choices, we must rely on digitally empowered and capable citizens. Improving EU citizens' digital skills beyond a basic level is important. The opportunity for all citizens to acquire specialized skills and a deep understanding of the current transformations in ICTs is a prerequisite to participate in the Digital Decade. This should be fostered by the development of a high-performing digital education ecosystem. And this is what the “Europe 4.0 Digital Citizens” aims to accomplish. This project aims to provide new digital skills to those most in need of them. This project proposes the elaboration and implementation of a comprehensive solution to the critical challenge faced by many EU countries to provide upskilling opportunities to large numbers of individuals through the development of three (3) complimentary activities: [a]. the “Digital Citizens 4.0 Europe” Curriculum that will provide all the foundational digital skills required to thrive in a more automated, digital and dynamic world [b]. the “Digital Citizens 4.0 Europe” eLearning Course - a high-quality online learning resource - in seven (7) European languages - will provide all citizens with the opportunity to upskill or re-skill as society evolves [c]. the “Digital Citizens 4.0 Europe” microcredential - that will provide a concrete demonstration of the proficiency of the participants in the newly acquired skills while, through the delivery of the project activities it is expected that a total of two hundred (200) people in each partner country - or 1.400 people in total - will experience a major upskilling through their participation in the eLearning Course and position themselves better in the labour market by claiming a digital badge.
