A software-defined, universal radio interface for intelligent devices of Internet of Things

The goal of the project is the development of the software-defined universal radio interface for intelligent IoT devices (DUCH IoT), compatible with the international standards LTE Cat. NB1/NB2. The result of the project will be a new product in the form of a hardware-software NB-IoT framework with a configurable division of implemented function between the hardware part (implemented as IP Core modules described in the HDL language technology independent) and the software part of the NB1/NB2 system (implemented as software modules developed in the C/C++). The form of a configurable radio interface allows its universal implementation depending on the estimated computing resources and hardware performance indicators in the target device, to maximize the operational efficiency of the entire device and reduce deployment time. The innovative configurability of the hardware-software architecture of the radio interface will be based, among others on specified software interfaces. They will allow the implementation of a configurable framework for IoT devices narrowband radio communication, in which data processing will be shared between the software and hardware parts and the data exchange between both parts will be provided by the mentioned interfaces giving a freeway in choosing the connection points of both implementations. The way of using the project result is to use the framework to expand existing intelligent devices or to implement a specialized SoC chip, integrating the functionality of the NB-IoT radio interface with other application elements, e.g. cryptographic functions, AI (Artificial Intelligence) to create an IoT node with the required features and reduce the time of its production deployment. The developed radio interface will contain implemented algorithms for supporting adaptive reception of a radio signals and radio channel state estimation.
