Innovative and Effective Approaches to the Prevention and Intervention of Industrial Fires

Industrial fires may pose serious threats against life and property compared to ordinary fires. They may also have negative impacts on businesses and national economy. Fire prevention measures and supression activities require specialty depending on the processes and materials used in each industrial plants. Fire Safety Management in industrial plants including fire prevention measures, automatic\manual fire detection and supression systems, supression methods and techniques, special equipments, skills and competencies have different aspects from regular structure fires. Basic firefighter training usually doesn’t include special training on industrial fires in most of partner EU countries. So most of the personnel working in Fire Departments do not have enough up-to-date knowledge and competence about industrial fires. Also there is no competency based special training course or vocational training module (EQF Level 8) on Fire Safety Management for industrial fires.
