The aim of the project is to search for biochemical, genetic and epigenetic parameters of oxidative stress affecting clinical parameters: the degree of coronary artery calcification determined by the CAC score (Coronary artery calcification score) and the occurrence of cardiovascular death (CV death) in a 4- and 10-year follow-up study up. Functional analyzes of oxidative stress (Medical University of Gdańsk) and epigenetic and genetic analyzes (Gdańsk University of Technology) will be carried out in a group of about 400 people: 200 people with a CAC score of 7-12 and 200 negative controls matched in terms of sex and age. The biological material necessary for the molecular research planned in the current project has been collected and is currently being biobanked at -80°C at the Medical University of Gdańsk. The biological material planned in the current project will be pseudonymized in accordance with the guidelines on the protection of personal data (GDPR) and provided with a special number that prevents identification of the person. As a result of the project, scientific research will be carried out that will help in understanding the pathogenesis of atherosclerotic changes.
