Underwater wireless communication system for purposes of unmanned and autonomous marine platforms

Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) move through the water in real time, without operator intervention from the surface. Communication with them takes place periodically or continuously through acoustic signals emitted under water. AUV vehicles used by the Polish Navy are equipped with communication systems of a foreign manufacturer, which in difficult propagation conditions do not ensure reliable transmission. The project provides for the construction of a system demonstrator enabling data transmission in particularly difficult propagation conditions for various applications, operating in two frequency ranges. In the low frequency range from 1 kHz to 50 kHz, the system will enable long-distance communication with AUV vehicles as well as communication between the AUV or a water unit and an object buried in bottom sediments. In the high frequency range from 30 kHz to 150 kHz the system will ensure fast data transmission over a short distance between moving objects.
