The aim of the Project is to build the capacity of the Gdańsk University of Technology in terms of receiving and serving foreign students, doctoral students, and staff (with a focus on young researchers). This goal will be achieved through the implementation of the following activities: a) development and professionalization of Welcome Office activities (expanding the services of the Welcome Office to include legal consultations, creating a mini tourist and cultural information point in the Welcome Office, developing informational and promotional materials for foreigners); b) enhancing the competencies of staff in internationalization (creating a program to enhance competencies in internationalization including training/workshops and domestic and foreign study visits for Gdańsk Tech staff); c) creating an onboarding program for foreign students, doctoral students, and staff, with particular emphasis on young researchers (producing video materials for websites and social media, developing printed/digital informational materials for newly admitted students/doctoral students and newly hired foreign staff, organizing events such as Intercultural Day, Welcome Meetings, etc.). In terms of short-term goals, the implementation of the Project will impact the level of service for foreign students, doctoral students, and academic/teaching/administrative staff. In terms of long-term goals, the implementation of the Project will contribute to increasing the number of talented students, doctoral students, and staff from abroad at Gdańsk Tech. The results achieved by the Project can be partially utilized even after the end of the funding period from NAWA. In order for the Project to best meet the needs of the target groups, the International Relations Office conducted and analyzed surveys directed at foreign students and staff, and analyzed numerous national and international reports and studies on the internationalization of higher education institutions. The planned activities will complement the activities carried out within projects implemented in previous editions of the Welcome to Poland NAWA program (IRO thus has the competencies and experience to implement similar projects).
