The influence of conditions of high temperature gas-steam mixture drying process on properties of dried material and energy consumption of drying process
The aim of the proposed project is the study of the influence of the conditions of the drying process of high-temperature wood with the use of a steam-gas mixture on the properties of the material and the energy consumption of the drying process. In particular, it is important, from the technical and operational point of view, to compare the drying results of soft and hard materials, in this case pine and beech. The methodology of research of the scientific problem to be solved during the project implementation will be based on experimental research. Experimental research will be carried out on experimental rigs located at the Department of Mechanical Wood Technology at the Technical University of Zvolen, Slovakia and the Department of Energy and Industrial Apparatus at the Gdańsk University of Technology, Poland. The stands are equipped with systems for collecting, controlling and archiving thermal and physical parameters of the drying process. Measurements of wood moisture content and temperature as well as temperature of the drying medium in drying kilns will be carried out using a number of sensors for measuring humidity and thermocouples. Understanding the relationship between the moisture content of wood and the energy consumption and mechanical properties of wood will make it possible to determine the optimal conditions for the drying process for selected wood species, taking into account their final quality, and to more accurately forecast the energy demand of the sawing process.
