Green cyclodextrin polymers for selective adsorption of organic pollutants from aqueous solutions

The aim of the project is to obtain natural, fully regenerable and effective adsorbents based on cyclodextrins for the adsorption of a wide range of organic compounds (mainly dyes, toxic, carcinogenic and endocrine compounds) from aqueous solutions from the production or purification process. Adsorption is one of the most effective, easy to operate and economically viable methods of pollutant separation. The use, for this purpose, adsorbents based on polymer materials will allow for energy savings, high efficiency, and most importantly for regeneration and biodegradation of the adsorbent, which is a significant advantage in contrast to the equally effective activated carbons commonly used in the industry. Research and development of new generation adsorbents are important for new technologies which minimalize impact on the environment.
