Abstract
Abstract—In the paper several approaches to building the real-time basic principle simulators of nuclear reactor processes are presented and their characteristics are analyzed. The characteristics of developed simulators for MATLAB/Simulink including their limitations, and the idea of a cross-platform simulator independent of specific hardware or software are presented. Mathematical models of selected nuclear reactor’s processes with special emphasis on the durations of their transient states and the desired step in the simulation are characterized. Architecture of the simulator, code development and its implementations on different hardware platforms (PC and Raspberry PI) and on different operating systems (Windows, Linux, Raspbian) are presented. Studies were performed to obtain the minimum possible simulation steps while maintaining regime operation in real-time on each platform. Comparison of compliances with the reference simulator and assessment of suitability of the various versions of simulators to educational and research tasks were carried out. Concept of the simulator operated using a web browser is considered.
