  • MONTE CARLO MODELING OF OPTICAL SENSOR FOR POST-OPERATIVE FREE FLAP MONITORING

    Publication

After a preliminary study of the currently employed methods in vitality monitoring of the tissue flaps (TRAM, DIEP, SIEA), a usefulness of optical techniques is discussed. It seems that one of the most promising in monitoring tissue flaps blood flow is a near infrared spectrometry (NIRS). However, a special design of a measurement sensor has to be developed. First, basing on the literature study an optical “window” is characterized....

  • Monte-Carlo Modeling of Optical Sensors for Postoperative Free Flap Monitoring

    Publication

    - Year 2024

This work aims to develop a numerical tissue model and implement software to simulate photon propagation using the Monte Carlo method to determine design guidelines for a physical measurement system. C++ was used for the simulation program, and Python as a programming environment to create an interface that allows the user to customize individual simulation elements, allowing for increased accuracy and flexibility when simulating...

  • The use of the static thermography in monitoring flap perfusion in breast reconstruction with TRAM flap

    Publication

    - Year 2016

This paper shows results of the static thermography for intraoperative and postoperative imaging of TRAM flap perfusion. The results were compared with the clinical examination of flap perfusion. The study was conducted on a group of 38 female patients who underwent breast reconstruction.

  • Accelerated Monte Carlo method for computation of photon migration by matrix description of photon direction

    Publication
