Space and Landscape in a Global Context - 2024/25

Module SPACE AND LANDSCAPE IN A GLOBAL CONTEXT (2022/2023, autumn semester)

Objective

The objective of the module is to debate different approaches to managing spatial development and contemporary issues in a global context. The course is founded on the students' knowledge about urban planning and instruments used to make them better places both for people and the environment. 

Course proceedings

Lectures and classes run online by dr hab. inż. arch. Agnieszka Zimnicka are held on the following dates: 

Tuesdays10/10/2023, 17/10/2023, 14/11/2023, 28/11/2023, 12/12/2023  from 14:150 to 17:15 

Students are required to actively participate in lectures, for example by joining in with questions or comments. During the lectures students will also be asked to solve short tasks such as, for example, discussing a given issue in groups or searching for required information. Students will be asked to prepare short essays before each session and submit it by end of Friday before the session. 

Conditions for a successful completion

In order to obtain a credit for the classes in Space and Landscape in a Global Context students are required to:

  1. attend classes
  2. prepare all required briefing notes (4)
    The briefing notes should be composed of up to 500 words, illustrated. They will be assessed against the following criteria: (1) Is it addressing the topic? (2) Is it based on credible evidence? (3) Does it demonstrate reasoning skills? The note needs to meet all three.
  3. prepare and deliver a presentation
    Students should form teams of 2 people and prepare 5 minutes presentation  on the topic agreed with the teacher by 01 December 2022. It should be delivered 11/12/2023, according to the 
    schedule available on this e-platform.
