Biography

Jakub Szulwic (born 23 December 1974 in Bydgoszcz, Poland) – is an experienced, licensed Land Surveyor, specialized in construction monitoring by the use of photogrammetric methods and laser scanning technology. His specialization are geomatics and geoinformatics.

He is an author about 100 publications including 50 indexed in Web of Science (H-index = 15)

In 1993, He graduated from Secondary School in Tuchola, Poland on physics and mathematical profile. From 1993 to 1998 He attended to the Faculty of Geodesy and Real Estate Management at the Agricultural and Technical Academy in Olsztyn where he obtained the Master of Science degree.

In 1998 he started PhD studies as an intern assistant in the Department of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.

In 25 November 2003, he defended his dissertation “Technology Concept of Geoinformatic Processing and Analysis of photogrammetric photos in internet solutions” on the Faculty of Geodesy and Real Estate Management with honors. For that dissertation, in 2005 he obtained a reward from Poland’s Minister of Infrastructure.

Since 1 April 2004 He is working in the Department of Geodesy at the Gdansk University of Technology.

From 2008 to 2011 He was the Head of Department of Geodesy and at years 2008-2013 he was Dean's Representative in Geodesy and Cartography. Since 2008 he is a member of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Council at the Gdansk University of Technology (2020-2024 by election), member of the Senate of the Gdańsk Tech (2020-2024, by election). In the years 2019-2020 Vice-Dean for Development. From 2020 to 2024 Vice-Dean for Research and Development at FCEE Gdańsk Tech.

He is a member of Poland Geodetic Association (since 1997), IEEE Geoscience & Remote Sensing Society, IEEE Computer Society (since 2015) and IAG International Association of Geodesy (since 2015).

He was the auxiliary supervisor of one PhD thesis, supervisor of 16 master thesis and over a hundred bachelor of science thesis. Also, he reviewed over 90 publications from the JCR list.
