Biography

MSc. Karolina Sobieraj graduated in 2018 in the field of Renewable Energy Sources and Waste Management in the specialization of Waste Management, with a scholarship from the Minister of Science and Higher Education for students for outstanding scientific achievements in the 2017/2018 academic year. From October 2019, she started studies at the UPWr Doctoral School in the discipline of environmental engineering, mining and energy. At the same time, she started working in the Leading Research Team Waste and Biomass Valorization Group (WBVG). From 2019, she is a representative of the Doctoral School in the Board of the Discipline of Environmental Engineering, Mining and Energy. She obtained the international title of a Certified Project Management Associate in accordance with the IPMA level D standard. 

The main scientific interests concern the biological aerobic treatment of waste, gas emissions from these processes, modeling the influence of technological factors on the course of the composting process and reducing food waste. During her studies, she analyzed the process of biological decomposition of organic waste, initially on a laboratory scale when assessing the content of the biodegradable fraction in waste from the municipal sector, then on a technical scale, examining the spatial distribution of process gases in piles during the composting of organic waste.

She actively cooperates with the industry of the waste management area as part of research projects and individual orders. In November 2017, she became the laureate of the first edition of Food Waste Hackathon Poland, taking first place with her team.

From February to December 2019, she dealt with administrative proceedings related to the direct threat of damage and damage to the environment, contamination of the earth's surface and plans for its remediation, as well as providing information on the environment and its protection as a specialist in the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Wrocław.
