Description

This is the histopathological image of SKIN tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: Pannoramic 250 3DHistech slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

Clinical description: HIV+. One year history of numerous reddish lesions of skin of whole body.

Diagnosis: Kaposi sarcoma

Result of the histopathological examination: Kaposi sarcoma: Proliferation of slit-like or dilated vascular channels formed by spindled endothelial cells. Vascular channels infiltrate deeper dermis and subcutaneous tissue. Extravasated erythrocytes and hemosiderin are present. CD34+, CD31+, HHV8+, Ki-67 20%.
