Description

This is the histopathological image of SKIN tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: Pannoramic 250 3DHistech slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

Clinical description: Skin lesions suggestive of dermatitis herpetiformis.

Result of the histopathological examination: The biopsy shows a sub-epidermal non-acantholytic blister above the basal cell layer with the presence of a few eosinophils. A mainly lymphocytic infiltrate is seen within dermis. The morphology is in keeping with the diagnosis of bullous disease (pemphigoid).
