Description
This is the histopathological image of SKIN tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: Pannoramic 250 3DHistech slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

Patient:
Age: 72
Clinical description: The skin of the trunk, upper limbs and lower limbs shows eroded erythematous lesions with an annular pattern. The changes are distributed randomly with a tendency to group in the abdominal cavity, groin and lumbar regions. In the area of the left epigastrium, there are few blisters based on erythematous skin filled with serous fluid. The oral cavity shows extensive erosions covered with whitish-yellowish content. Clinical data: blisters on the erythematous skin surface.

Result of the histopathological examination: The specimen shows intraepidermal blister with a suprabasilar split and the presence of eosinophils. The underlying skin shows inflammatory infiltrate consisting of neutrophils and lymphocytes. The appaerances are in keeping with vesiculo-bullous skin disorder (pemphigus).
