Description
This is the histopathological image of SKIN tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: Pannoramic 250 3DHistech slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

Clinical description: The patient diagnosed with pemphigus vulgaris in 2014 and on steroid therapy since. Now exacerbation of clinical symptoms with skin ulceration of trunk and lower extremities as well as ulcerations of oral mucosa.

Diagnosis: Pemphigus vulgaris
Result of the histopathological examination: Vesiculo-bullous skin disease - pemphigus. The histology shows features of suprabasal epidermal split due to acantholysis. The underlying skin displays chronic inflammation with mostly perivascular distribution.
