SEM micrographs of aluminium corrosion in alkaline media with various bee products as corrosion inhibitors

Description

This dataset contains various scanning electron microscopy (SEM) micrographs of AA5754 aluminum alloy samples exposed to the corrosive alkaline environment without and with the addition of various bee products to act as green corrosion inhibitors. The products are bee pollen, honey, and putty. They were investigated in bicarbonate buffer (pH =10 or =11) with different amounts (0.5 and 5 g) added to 250 mL electrolyte volume. The reference micrographs (labeled as buffer) were made without addition of bee products. The exposure duration was 3 h.

This work is a part of the M.Sc. diploma of Mr. Jedrzej Jasonek. Further studies on bee products as corrosion inhibitors may be found in Electrochimica Acta article: 10.1016/j.electacta.2019.03.012
