Biography
Dr. Eng. Paweł Szymon Dąbrowski studied geodesy and cartography at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn from 2004-2009, where he obtained the title of Master of Science in Engineering. In the years 2009-2016, he worked as a land surveyor in Iława and Gdańsk. He gained professional experience during the construction of the Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway, which helped him obtain a national surveying license in 2015. In 2013-2014, Dr. Dąbrowski completed postgraduate studies at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, focused on airborne and terrestrial laser scanning. During his work as a surveyor, he gained experience in using and processing the results of measurements carried out with laser scanners, GNSS receivers, and total stations.
In 2016, Dr. Dąbrowski started an academic career at the Gdynia Maritime University in the Department of Geodesy and Oceanography. In the years 2018-2020, he was a deputy head of the department. In 2019, Dr. Dąbrowski defended his doctoral dissertation with distinction at the Faculty of Navigation of the Gdynia Maritime University, entitled "Application of methods of cartographic projections theory for the processing of results of laser scanning technology measurements". In the years 2017-2019, Dr. Dąbrowski completed postgraduate studies in Hydrography at the Polish Naval Academy of the Heroes of Westerplatte in Gdynia, and in 2016 and 2017 he served as a mentor in two editions of the Space3ac start-up acceleration program.
Dr. Dąbrowski obtained a Bekker’s program grant from the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange entitled "Characteristics of point propagation in the method of point clouds spatial expansion (PCSE)", which he carried out in 2022 in a post-doc internship at the Delft University of Technology (Netherlands) under the supervision of prof. Roderik Lindenbergh. Moreover, Dr. Dąbrowski was the main contractor of GNSS measurements and data processing in the project of the Polish National Science Center and PKP PLK S.A. "Development of an innovative method for determining the precise trajectory of a rail vehicle" implemented by the consortium of the Gdańsk University of Technology and the Gdynia Maritime University.
Dr. Dąbrowski won awards for his scientific activities. In 2020, he received an award from the Gdańsk branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences for young scientists’ best study published in the field of technical sciences in 2019. In 2022, he received the award of the Minister of Infrastructure for significant achievements in the scientific activities of the Gdynia Maritime University research team. In the same year, Dr. Dąbrowski received a scholarship from the Minister of Education and Science for young scientists. In addition, Dr. Dąbrowski received three awards from the Rector of the Gdynia Maritime University (1st degree awards in 2021 and 2023 and 2nd degree award in 2022).
In 2023, Dr. Dąbrowski joined the Department of Geodesy of the Gdańsk University of Technology. Basic topics of research conducted by Dr. Dąbrowskiego include the processing of point clouds derived from laser measurements. Additionally, in his research, he focuses on issues of surface theory, cartography, theory of estimation, theory of adjustment, and satellite GNSS positioning in transport and sports. Dr. Dąbrowski, as of October 2023, is the author or co-author of 55 scientific publications, 37 of which were published in JCR list journals. Additionally, he was a reviewer of over 60 scientific papers and a supervisor of 17 engineering and master's theses. Dr. Dąbrowski was a speaker at national international scientific conferences.
