The proposed project is a spinoff of the international project DAYKE (Daylight Knowledge in Europe). As DAYKE aims to investigate the level of knowledge in daylighting, so NLITED aims to bridge the gaps in educational offers identified by the first project. In particular, NLITED is a complete training programme based on two educational approaches. On the one hand, the eLearning Platform to teach the daylighting assessment methods for the built environment design process is created. On the other hand, it proposes a summer school (Intensive Study Programme) for daylighting design application. Hereof, the platform offers theoretical knowledge, while the summer school extends it to hands-on practical training. The online platform is structured in separated eModules. The programme target audience is students of different courses related to the built environment and professionals. The students will receive ECTS credits while professionals will get a Certificate of Attendance (Pass/Failed) for each eModule followed. The ultimate goal of the project is to launch the ePlatform for a well recognized virtual educational platform (e.g. Coursera), where more users can be reached out. The strengths of NLITED are an international database gathered during DAYKE; an integration of study modes (modular learning + distance learning + intensive study programme); systematic use of ICT application (virtual learning platforms); a tailor-made form of learning; a blended scope of target learners (students and professionals). The biggest advantages for the universities participating in the NLITED is positive publicity and international recognition contributed to European Erasmus grants recipients. As well as an opportunity to co-create the European eLearning platform for the better daylight appraisals for sustainable modern planning.
