As part of the planned scientific activity, it is planned to do research aimed at acquiring new knowledge by collecting data on the actual impact of accelerations on passengers in rail transport (PART I), processing the collected data in the form of a database (PART II) and analyzing and designing scale factor of transport comfort taking into account subjective feelings of passengers.
PART I: Field research will consist in measuring real unbalanced accelerations affecting passengers inside various types of rail vehicles (both railway, i.e. trains of various configurations, Electric Multiple Units, Diesel Multiple Units, as well as tram vehicles) using mobile devices equipped with MEMS accelerometer sensors.
PART II: The processing of the acquired data will consist in sorting and organizing files with the collected signals in folders (unifying file names taking into account the place and date of measurement), converting files with recorded signals to .txt and .xls / .xlsx formats, and finally creating an ordered database in a spreadsheet.
PART III: The analyzing data to design scale factor of transport comfort taking into account the subjective feelings of passengers in relation to real unbalanced accelerations.
Actions taken during the task under the MINIATURA-7 competition, consisting in collecting data on unbalanced accelerations affecting rail transport passengers, depending on the infrastructure and rolling stock, will be the basis for further analysis and exploration of the issue, and in the future, in particular:
1. Analyzes detailed relationships between the acquired data and route geometry data.
2. Development of indicators defining the travel comfort of passengers in rail transport.
3. Development and verification of models of the impact of unbalanced acceleration on rail transport passengers.
4. Detailed development and submission of an application, e.g. in the OPUS NCN competition on advanced research in the field of passenger comfort in rail transport (e.g. using dummies equipped with advanced measuring equipment), taking into account the impact of real unbalanced accelerations in cooperation and using international experience.
