Old-timer Vehicle - Braking Efficiency Measurement at Vehicle Inspection Stations and Roadworthiness Validity Certificate.

Abstract

Obtaining the Roadworthiness Validity Certificate for an old-timer vehicle involves an appropriate test performance, namely, "Old-timer Vehicle Technical Specification Compliance Test". It seems obvious that this kind of test should include a considerable checklist, however, the current legal regulations connected with this test are not specific enough. One of the certificates issued on this test results is "Old-timer Vehicle Technical Inspection Report" in which the diagnostic technician should state the braking efficiencycoefficient. We can consequently guess that the measurement of braking efficiency should be therefore performed. Theoretically, having obtained the results of such measurement tests, thediagnostic technician can issue a Roadworthiness Validity Certificate for a particular old-timer vehicle. Any exemptions of an old-timer vehicle from particular requirements are listed in the Journal of Laws which specifies various technical parameters that a modern vehicle should comply with to obtain its Roadworthiness Validity Certificate. This comes as one of the problems connected with the currently binding legal Act which appears to be far from perfect. Also, the lack of periodic technical inspections for this kind of vehicles is another problem.
