Abstract
The wetting properties of surfactants mixtures were investigated. Three types of compounds were used: nonionic gemini α, α'-[2,4,7,9-tetramethyl-5-decyne-4,7-diyl]bis[ω-hydroxyl-olioxyethylene] (S-10), anionic sodium dodecyl sulphates (SDS) and cationic dodecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (DTAB). The materials used in wetting experiments were steel and methyl polymethacrylate. These materials differ in their hydrophobicity. It has been found that wetting was generally better in case of methyl polymethacrylate plates (the most hydrophilic material), while for steel plates was worse. Contact angle varied from 14° to 52° for methyl polymethacrylate and from 25° to 55° for steel. The lowest values of contact angle were observed in case of surfactants S-10 + DTAB mixtures. The synergistic effects was not observed for any mixtures and the additivity of wetting properties was observed.
