Ich struktura w stanie stałym świadczy o naprężonej konformacji w przypadku izomeru trans i nie naprężonej dla izomeru cis. Jest to efektem sprzężenia p grupy azowej z benzenem i naprężenia sterycznego konformacji cząsteczki.
