Biography
I am the group leader of the computational modelling of biomolecules divison at the institute of Fundamental Technological Research Polish Academy of Sciences in Poland. My group was hosted between 2021-2022 by International Centre for Research on Innovative Bio-based Materials (ICRI-BioM). In 2008, I got a Master degree in computational physics from the State University of Campinas, Brazil. Then I moved to Germany and under the supervision of Prof. Kurt Kremer (head of the polymer theory group, Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research) and Prof. Luigi Delle Site (Frei Uinersity of Berlin) I got a PhD degree in Physics in 2011. I have worked as a postdoc in the group of Prof. Giovanni Ciccotti at University of Rome “La Sapienza” (Rome-Italy) in biomolecular simulations. In 2018, I got appointed as an assistant professor at the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research (IPPT-PAN). My current research areas focus on the development of computational strategies for capturing large conformational changes of biomolecules with emphasis on neurodegenerative diseases, biopolymer degradation and COVID-19. As the main developer of the GoMARTINI model for the modelling of large conformational changes of protein complexes. Also I have steered collaboration with single-molecule force spectroscopy experts with applications from receptor-cell interactions and long-range effect to single-point mutations in protein stability.
