Hanna Obracht-Prondzyńska, PhD MArch, Eng.

Assistant Professor at the University of Gdańsk, Department of Spatial Management, academic teacher of urban design and spatial data analyses. Architect and urban planner experienced in data driven urban design and planning.

She defended her PhD with distinction in engineering and technical sciences in the discipline of architecture and urban planning in 2020 at the Faculty of Architecture of Gdańsk University of Technology, where she did her master and engineering studies. In her PhD, she used the experience of regional and urban planning and data analysis to investigate the influence of metropolises on the small towns’ development. For her work, she received 5 awards, including two ministerial and the Polish Academy of Sciences.

She studied at the Warsaw University of Technology to obtain a title of GIS analyst and at the Vienna University of Technology. She finished an intensive course at the InfoShare Academy and received Data Scientist Certificate.

She has international academic and planning experience from China, South Africa, USA, Colombia, Romania and Germany. She worked in the Pomeranian Office for Regional Planning where she co-created, among others, spatial development plan for the Pomeranian Voivodeship and the Gdańsk-Gdynia-Sopot metropolitan area.

At the University of Gdańsk, her research focuses on indirect methods of participation by analysing, among others,  the possibilities of using social media data to assess the perception of urban space. While working at the Gdańsk University of Technology, she co-creates an innovative solution - a green currency based on an application, which is to support the pro-ecological behaviour of urban dwellers.

In 2022, as an assistant professor at the University of Gdańsk, she received a scholarship from the Minister of Education and Higher Education for outstanding young scientists.
