  • Kinedynamics of Spherical Wavefields in Fluid and Dielectric Continua
    Publication

    - Year 2016

Distubances induced by physical sources in fluids or dielectrics maintain their primary character while propagating throughout either of these bi-dynamic continua. The paper defines and illustrates four sets of bi-fields based on four specific fundamental kinedynamic solutions to inhomogeneous wave equations related to quasi-point acoustic and electromagnetic sources.

  • PHONEME DISTORTION IN PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEMS
    Publication

    - Year 2015

The quality of voice messages in speech reinforcement and public address systems is often poor. The sound engineering projects of such systems take care of sound intensity and possible reverberation phenomena in public space without, however, considering the influence of acoustic interference related to the number and distribution of loudspeakers. This paper presents the results of measurements and numerical simulations of the...

  • TIME-AND-SPACE STRUCTURE OF FORCE-DRIVEN RIGID SPHEREWAVEFIELD
    Publication

    - Year 2015

This paper introduces a time-domain, causality-inspired description of a vector-source acoustic wavefield of arbitrary time evolution, where a sphere is a practical realisation of quasi-point contact surface without which a point force would not be able to exert an impact onto non-viscous fluid. At every space location, the resulting acoustic field is described by a pair of physical variables characterising the time evolution of...

  • Distortion of speech signals in the listening area: its mechanism and measurements
    Publication

    - Year 2014

The paper deals with a problem of the influence of the number and distribution of loudspeakers in speech reinforcement systems on the quality of publicly addressed voice messages, namely on speech intelligibility in the listening area. Linear superposition of time-shifted broadband waves of a same form and slightly different magnitudes that reach a listener from numerous coherent sources, is accompanied by interference effects...

  • Local dynamics of fluids and dielectrics as the foundation of signal-carrying wave properties
    Publication

    - Year 2014

This paper develops an original approach to fundamental problems of classical linear acoustics and electromagnetics, proving a crucial role of doubly-dynamic local properties of a propagation medium in supporting wave-like fields able to carry information signals. The proof is composed of two steps concerning, subsequently, fluid acoustics and dielectric electromagnetics. The first step consists in complementing a common, practically...

  • Ultrawideband transmission in physical channels: a broadband interference view
    Publication

The superposition of multipath components (MPC) of an emitted wave, formed by reflections from limiting surfaces and obstacles in the propagation area, strongly affects communication signals. In the case of modern wideband systems, the effect should be seen as a broadband counterpart of classical interference which is the cause of fading in narrowband systems. This paper shows that in wideband communications, the time- and frequency-domain...

  • Source-related Wavefields in Fluids and Dielectrics: A new way of Thinking about Medium Dynamics
    Publication

    - HYDROACOUSTICS - Year 2013

Acoustic and electromagnetic wave phenomena may seem to have a proper formal representation in field theory dating from the 19th century, founded on the mathematics of complex functions. This paper shows, however, that when replacing the classical spectrum-domain approach related to the assumption of harmonic timeform of signals, with a time-domain approach imposingnorestrictionastotheclassoftimeevolutionofsourceandfieldsignals,...

  • Testing OFDM Transmission Schemes for Shallow Water Acoustic Communications
    Publication

    - Year 2013

Large variability of communication properties of underwater acoustic channels, and especially strongly varying instantaneous conditions in shallow waters, is a tough challenge for the designers of underwater acoustics communication (UAC system. There is a need for developing adaptive signaling schemes that would dynamically optimize signal parameters in both physical and link layers of communication protocols. The orthogonal frequency...

  • Time-domine Dipole Fields in acoustic and Elektromagnetics
    Publication

    - Year 2013

The ultrawideband (UWB) radio technique presents a challenge not just for technology. The UWB carrier-free pulses act at a close distance, their electromagnetic fields being very different from classic monochromatic plane wave. The author proposes to adapt a time-domian approach to analysis of broadband spherical fields, both acoustic and electromagnetic, in fundamental cases of quasi-point physical sources.

  • Measurements of transmission properties of Acoustic Communication Channels
    Publication

Tough transmission properties of shallow water acoustic channels (SWAC) highly limit the use of underwater acoustic communication (UAC) systems. An adaptive matching of modulation and signaling schemes to instantaneous channel conditions is needed for reliabledata communications. This creates, however, unique challenges for designers when compared to radio transmission systems. When communication system elements are in move, the...

  • Time-domain description of point-source acoustic wavefields as a useful approach in ultrasonic techniques
    Publication

    - Year 2012

In traditional acoustics, field problems are usually treated in the frequency domain, broadband fields being reduced to superposition of harmonic spectrum components. However, this approach is inherently acausal and it is known that in case of arbitrary signals, the distribution-based, time-domain description can be more effective. The present paper is an attempt to expand the time-domain linear systems formalism onto space problems...

  • Action-reaction based synthesis of acoustic wavefield equations
    Publication

    - HYDROACOUSTICS - Year 2011

The analysis of acoustic fields is usually based on the well-known mathematics of second order partial differential equations called wave equations. The author explores the duality and symmetry of linear fluid mechanics and develops two distinct equations of acoustics on the basis of a causal approach to local small-scale phenomena. Wavefields that are solutions of these equations have different composition, the spherical pressure...

  • Application of OFDM technique to underwater acoustic data transmission
    Publication

Performances of underwater acoustic communication (UAC) digital systems are strongly related to specific transmission properties of the underwater channel. Depending on the characteristics of the channel, an architecture and modulation techniques are usually implemented that are known as reliable solutions for data transmission in difficult radio channels. The OFDM technique seems to be the most promising nowadays. The parameters...

  • Scalar and Vector acoustic fields and sources: a new look
    Publication

    - Year 2011

A study of fundamental problems of the wavefields that are the reaction of fluid continuum on two kinds of primary actions in fluid, then on two kinds of elementary point sources, is presented in this paper, based on the assumption of the physical duality of linear fluid mechanics and the formal symmetry of mathematical description. The two fundamental wavefields generated in fluid by physical point sources are discussed in detail,...

Adaptacja metod transmisji danych do komunikacji podwodnej na falach akustycznych wymaga uwzględnienia specyficznych cech kanału hydroakustycznego, który łączy w sobie najtrudniejsze właściwości kanałów telekomunikacyjnych....

  • Transmission parameters of underwater communication channels
    Publication

The underwater environment is tough and demanding as a communication channel for ultrasonic signals. The channel transmission characteristics in marine and inland waters depend much on local bathymetry and changing weather conditions. The architecture and performance of a reliable underwater acoustic communication (UAC) system should allow real-time adaptation of its transmission parameters to a large variety of possible channel...
