We have obtained polycrystalline samples of a metastable α variant of KCoPO4 by low temperature (350–400 °C) solid state metathesis reaction of potassium oxalate and ammonium cobalt orthophosphate. The material crystallizes in a polar chiral structure (sg. P63, no. 173).
