Biography
Karol NIKLAS is a university professor at Gdansk University of Technology (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology, Institute of Naval Architecture). He defended his master's thesis on Naval Architecture, specialty Design of vessels and yachts in 2007. In 2008, he completed postgraduate studies in the specialty 'Novel Simulation Methods in Engineering' at the Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics. In 2014 awarded a PhD degree with thesis ‘Application of local stresses in the fatigue analysis of steel sandwich panel laser welds’. In 2024, he was awarded a post-doctoral degree in the field of engineering sciences, discipline Mechanical Engineering. Professional and scientific interest in the field of design (CAD), computer simulations (FEA, CFD) and experimental testing of ship and offshore structures. Experienced scientist with more than 15 years of experience working as a researcher in a technical university. Continuous cooperation with industry. Participated in over 15 international research projects, head of 2. Co-author of over 20 scientific publications indexed by the WoS Core Collection, over 50 conference publications, over 100 technical reports. Hobby: yachting, biking, travelling.
